Dear ESS Members,

Another year is ending and it is time to share a few words about the highlights of the Society.

We had very successful XV Annual Meeting in Krakow on 17th - 19th November 2011. Prof. Wojciech Nowak, President of the Organizing Committee and his team prepared very interesting scientific and social program of the Conference.

On the first day of the Conference , 12 candidates from different countries took the UEMS Examination in General Surgery. Ten of them successfully passed and became Fellows of the European Board of Surgery. Congratulations!

The Board of the Society elected prof. dr Cem Terzi as the President of the European Society of Surgery for 2012. Professor Terzi will host the XVI Annual Meeting of the Society in Turkey, and as soon as we get more details you will find them on the website.

In the year 2012, the UEMS Examinations in General Surgery will be organized in Austria and Turkey. We strongly encourage you to take the Exam.

It is great pleasure to inform you that during the Annual Meeting in Krakow, honorary membership of the ESS has been conferred on professors Luc Michel, and prof. Henning Dralle.

Do not forget to visit our website for the information about the next Annual Meeting in Turkey, program of the courses organized in the training center in Krakow. Also, remember to pay your annual fee.
